CHL is for you!

CHL and You

Hello, creatives!

You are in the right place if:

  • You’re not writing, but secretly wish you could.
  • You’re writing, but sporadically and without direction.
  • You are writing, but not developing as fast as you’d like.
  • Or you are writing, but are stuck and wish someone would cheer you along AND point you in the right direction.

Here you’ll find:

  • How to stay creative in your outlook and approach to writing.
  • How to stay focused and produce.
  • How to remain inspired daily.
  • How to get back up.
  • Resources for the above I’ve used.
  • Tips and techniques for staying on your writing path.
  • Hope.

Now, I love to learn. And read – I can read for hours. But, I also love to write and I want to get published more and more often. Learning about writing, reading about writing, even dabbling in writing did not get words on the page.

It was time to stop thinking about writing and write.

I discovered that:

  • If I don’t write, I get restless. This makes me cranky.
  • If I don’t write, I feel hollow. This makes me cranky.
  • If I don’t write, I feel useless, purposeless, and tired. These make me cranky.

And cranky is a discontented, miserable place to be.

So, in the midst of raising and homeschooling three kids and several moves, I graduated from the Institute of Children’s Literature and became a happy member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators. While I’ve published several things (including a junior biography with a very long title – check it out here), I don’t want to live in ‘cranky’ anymore.

Moving Forward:

‘But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves.’ (James 1:22)

You can write. You can write better than last month. You can be a better writer next month. You can get published.

To your creative success,

Robin Phillips
